What equipment will be installed on my property?
Fibre Optic services will always have a Termination unit which can have many different names
- Network Termination Device/Unit (NTD/NTU)
- Optical Network Terminal (ONT)
Even though there are many different names for these devices they all serve the same purpose. The NTD/ONT is a Fibre Optic Modem that cannot be configured.
How do I connect to Fibre?
As consumers you are unable to configure the NTD and therefor the authentication (ISP username and password) needs to be made from a router.
On the Primus network, customers must use a Primus supplied router
There are many advantages in using a router.
Some advantages of using a router for a bridged connection are
- Packet Protection
- Port Forwarding
- Multiple Device Connections
- Wireless Capable (WiFi)
- And More
