What speeds will I receive?

Broadband to be provided at speeds of up to ADSL2+ depending on availability and service qualification.
Where ADSL2+ not available, speeds of either up to 8000kbps or 1500kbps will be provided. For more information click here

Broadband Speeds

The Broadband speed you will receive depends on the service qualification of your telephone line, and we will use our best endeavours to give you the highest speed available based on what is available on your telephone line. For information on why you may not be able to receive ADSL2+ or ADSL please see below, or see our fibre optic speeds section.

Depending on the capabilities of your line and telephone exchange, you will receive the higher of either:

  • Up to ADSL2+* (Open2)
  • Up to 8000kbps ADSL1^ (Open1)
  • 1500kbps ADSL1#

* ADSL2+ (Open2) = Maximum theoretical speed of 20Mbit/s download, and 1Mbit/s upload.
^ ADSL1 (Open 1) = Maximum theoretical speed of 8Mbit/s download, 384kbps upload.
# 1500k ADSL1 = Maximum theoretical speed of 1.5Mbit/s download, 256kbps upload.

High Speed ADSL2+ is enabled in over 60% of Broadband exchanges around Australia, and will be provided where your equipment and location supports the high speed. If these higher speeds are not supported or available you will have access to ADSL speeds of up to 1500kbps or up to 8000kbps. You can check online for which zone your service is located. Please note a more thorough check of your line is required, to confirm that your line can support high speeds. This can be conducted by our Sales department, or via our Online Signup.

Some services which are located in Zone 1 or the Zone 2 will not be compatible with ADSL2+ or ADSL1, due to factors including: line quality, noise and interference, RIM and Pair Gain Systems, line length or other factors.

Your speed results will be somewhere between the maximum theoretical speed of 20Mbit/s download 1Mbit/s upload, to 1.5Mbit/s download, 256kbps upload. This is a Broadband consumer grade residential Internet service. Actual speeds vary and may be affected by your location and equipment, the source of your download and the level of internet traffic.

^Things you should know about the No Worries Platinum plan (Business Rules):
  1. No Worries Platinum bundles are available to eligible iPrimus residential customers under the contract specified by you for bundled home phone and Broadband services.
  2. Not available in all areas nor to all customers. Customers will receive No Worries Platinum ADSL2+ if it is available at their location, otherwise the fastest available No Worries Platinum ADSL. No Worries Platinum ADSL2+ is available only to eligible bundled iPrimus residential customers who are located in the area of an iPrimus ADSL2+ enabled exchange. iPrimus cannot at present provide this service on a Fast Transfer or to customers transferring from networks other than Telstra. Actual speeds vary and may be affected by your location and equipment, the source of your download and the level of internet traffic.
  3. Available only to customers who have an existing telephone service.
  4. Broadband monthly data allowance includes uploads and downloads. No excess data charge - speed will be limited to 256/256kbps speed for the balance of a billing cycle in which the monthly data allowance is reached. Customers should monitor data usage through their iPrimus Account Toolbox.
  5. Due to No Worries Platinum Unlimited Data being available to only residential customers, the Unlimited data allowance is subject to the limitation that it is only to be used for residential (non-commercial) purposes. iPrimus may suspend or terminate a service if a customer is found to be using the services outside the purposes for which it is provided.
  6. You can "Top Up" your data allowance in any month. Cost and terms see: http://www.iprimus.com.au/PrimusWeb/HomeSolutions/AdditionalServices/BroadbandTopUps.htm.
  7. You need an iPrimus approved ADSL2+/ADSL (as applicable) approved modem. A $14.95 modem delivery fee, additional to the specified cost of the modem, applies if you order a modem from us.
  8. Unlimited standard national and local calls are strictly for ordinary residential use (iPrimus acceptable use policy applies), includes local calls to fixed lines, national/long distance calls within Australia. Excludes calls to 13/1300 numbers, premium numbers and other special services which are charged at the applicable rate.
  9. The plan also includes 200 minutes per month of calls to iPrimus Mobile services within Australia. Any included call value expires at the end of each billing period and is not refundable or transferable. All other call types are charged at quoted rates.
  10. Accounts must be paid by Direct Debit. If iPrimus allows you to pay by another method, a $2.95/bill administration fee applies.
  11. Customers paying by direct debit will receive bills online through their iPrimus Account Toolbox. Customers who request a paper bill by mail will be charged $2.50 per bill.
  12. As part of your plan you can obtain up to 5 iPrimus email addresses. Each mailbox is 10MB in size and you can send individual emails of up to 2MB per email.
  13. It is your responsibility to check the terms of any existing contract you may have with another supplier. If you are transferring a service to iPrimus, there may be consequences under an existing contract.
  14. Limit of one No Worries Platinum service for each customer and for each customer premises.
  15. If you cancel or transfer either the telephone or internet component, iPrimus may suspend or terminate both services and you may be liable for early termination fees and need to re contract for a standalone service.
  16. We will provide the service at the address which you nominate. If you relocate, iPrimus may not be able to provide you with the same offer and you may incur relocation and/or cancellation charges.
  17. Where an existing service is being transferred to Primus, you authorise Primus to transfer your service, and now or in the future, to port your number to Primus from your existing supplier and to complete a transfer or port authority on your behalf. Some features may not transfer. We will notify you of the transfer within 10 business days.
  18. iPrimus Standard Form of Agreement applies (see http://www.iprimus.com.au/PrimusWeb/StandardFormsofAgreement/).
  19. Minimum total cost over 24 months calculated as: 24 x $(No Worries Platinum bundle monthly access fee) + setup fee (where applicable). Calls outside the included call value, modem + P&H (if required) extra.
  20. Should you cancel before the agreed minimum term ends, an early termination fee of $300.00 pro rated over the remaining months of your contract will apply.

Things you should know about iPrimus Broadband2+:

Things you should know about iPrimus Value Telephony

iPrimus Value

  1. Accounts must be paid by Direct Debit. If iPrimus allows you to pay by another method, a $2.95 per bill administration fee applies.
  2. A Line Rental fee of $29.95/month applies.
  3. All Local Calls are charged at 20c/call. Excludes calls to 13/1300 numbers, premium numbers and other special services which are charged at the applicable rate. Calls to 13/1300 numbers are 38.5c/call.
  4. All National and Long Distance Calls to fixed lines within Australia, other than Local Calls, calls to 13/1300 numbers, premium numbers and other special services, are charged at 20c/minute plus 45c flagfall capped at $2.20 for up to 3 hours. After 3 hours, 20c/minute(charged in 60 second increments)
  5. Calls to Australian Mobiles are 36c/minute (charged in 60 second increments) plus 45c flagfall. Calls to Australian Mobiles which start and finish between 7pm and midnight, 7 days, are 36c/minute plus 45c flagfall capped at $2.20 for the first 20 minutes. After 20 minutes: 36c/minute (charged in 60 second increments).
  6. For International Calls iPrimus Value and iPrimus Family customers may select Name-a-Nation or Desti-Nation.

    Name-a-Nation: You can nominate the country to which you make most of your international calls and receive a special low rate to that country. If at any time you would like to change your Name-a-Nation country you can, simply by calling iPrimus Customer Service.

    Desti-Nation: With Desti-Nation, instead of choosing just one country, you are able to nominate one of four set packages and receive our fantastic Name-a-Nation international call rates to every country in that package.

    • Desti-Nation 1: UK 17.6c/min, USA 17.6c/min, Canada 17.6c/min, NZ 17.6c/min, Greece 42.9c/min and Italy 30.8c/min.
    • Desti-Nation 2: UK 17.6c/min, USA 17.6c/min, China 53.9c/min, Hong Kong 28.6c/min, Malaysia 46.2c/min and Singapore 39.6c/min.
