What is WebTXT?
Primus’ WebTXT service allows you to send SMS (or TXT) messages to your friends and family via an easy-to-use web interface. No more fiddling around with your phone, plugging in numbers and letters ... the web interface makes it easy to compose messages quickly.
What are the benefits of using WebTXT?
- Send messages from your PC. No more sore thumbs!
- Send messages to one person or many
- Type messages easily in plain English
- Save money on voice calls
- Keep up with your kids
- Convenient billing on your Internet account
- Receive replies via e-mail as well
How much does it cost?
There is no charge for access to the Primus WebTXT service. Each SMS is charged at 18 cents including GST. SMS charges will be charged directly to your Internet bill. On your monthly statement you will see a charge saying "Primus WebTXT".
Do messages sent from WebTXT come from my phone?
No. Messages sent from WebTXT are sent from a central Primus mobile number. Every message sent from WebTXT will look like it has been sent from this Primus mobile number. This is why you should say who you are in your message.
Why are some recipients asking ‘who are you?’ in their SMS reply?
This is because they do not recognize the central Primus mobile number used by the WebTXT service, especially if you have not advised them of this beforehand.
How do recipients reply to me if they don’t see my mobile number?
It’s easy! Recipients can reply to your messages as they would normally respond to a mobile-originated SMS. WebTXT will deliver these replies to your WebTXT Inbox. You can also select to receive replies as e-mails. If your recipients reply to your mobile number, the reply will go directly to your mobile phone and not to your WebTXT Inbox.
What is Flash SMS?
A Flash SMS appears directly on the recipient’s mobile phone display, instead of being sent to their Inbox. Flash SMS is a useful alternative to normal SMS when you want to catch the recipient’s attention immediately.
Can I use WebTXT to send messages using my database or business systems?
Yes you can. Use the ‘Advanced Options’ – multiple, batch or Excel features. If you can extract the list of mobile phone numbers from your database or business system, you can use this to send your messages. Click on the ‘i’ icon on the Advanced Options screen or contact support@iprimus.com.au for assistance.
Are there any numbers I cannot send to with WebTXT?
WebTXT does not allow messages to be sent to international numbers, or to mobile numbers commencing with 13, 18 or 19.
Why is WebTXT not sending any more messages?
WebTXT is limited to 500 messages per month. If you need to send more than 500 messages per month, please contact us on support@iprimus.com.au to increase your monthly message limit.
Why is my SMS message not delivered to one or more recipients?
Just like sending SMS from your mobile phone, there are a number of reasons why messages don’t get delivered:
- The recipient’s mobile phone is switched off or not in a network area. The system will re-try for up to 7 days.
- The recipient’s mobile phone memory for storing SMS is full.
- You may not have entered the correct mobile phone number.
- The recipient’s carrier may be experiencing service difficulties.
Please note that because WebTXT has no control over the mobile network, you will be charged for messages that are successfully queued for sending even if the message was not successfully received.
Why are my messages being sent twice?
You may have sent the message twice, or the recipient’s carrier may have re-tried sending the SMS to the mobile phone. This could happen when the mobile phone is in a poor or congested network area, and the mobile base station may not sense that the first message was already delivered to the mobile phone.
What happens if Primus’ WebTXT system is not available?
You will see a maintenance screen after you select the ‘WebTXT Signing’ link from the nominated web page. Wait and try again later.
