wirelesshotspotPrimus Wireless Hotspot gives you the advantage of connecting to the Internet even when you are away from home or the office. You can surf the web, e-mail clients, co-workers and friends and connect to your corporate network via a VPN (Virtual Private Network)* - all at speeds faster than a 56k Dial-Up connection!

Primus and partners have strategically placed Wireless Access Points, known as ‘Hotspots’, across CBD’s and capital cities in Australia enabling customer to access to the Primus Wireless Hotspot Internet service.

Primus Hotspot Wireless uses the global IEEE 802.11 WiFi standard.

+ To sign-up to the Primus Hotspot Wireless service, you must be a Primus Internet Dial-Up or Broadband ADSL account holder (Excluding Prepaid Products). Eligibility criteria applies. Hotspot Wireless service is not available on member or alias accounts.
‡ The monthly fee is payable in advance and will be billed via invoice or debited via credit card.
^ The Primus Hotspot Wireless service will attract a once off, non-refundable $10.00 (inc GST) set-up fee.
~ This is the number of hours included as part of the plan. Excess hours are charged as indicated. Unused hours do not roll over to the following month.
# Excess Hours will be charged when customers exceed their monthly included plan hours. Excess Hours are charged as indicated. Excess Hours are billed in ‘per minute’ increments (eg: $12.50 per hour = $0.21 per minute).
** Based on the 'Hotspot Wireless 10' plan plus set-up fee. Highest rate for Hostpot Wireless plans is 21 cents per minute plus set-up fee.

How do I Log on to a Wireless Hotspot?

  1. Once you have located a Primus Broadband Wireless Hotspot, ensure you have inserted your 802.11b wireless card into your laptop and powered the laptop on, or powered on the WLAN feature of the PDA.
  2. When your laptop or PDA is ready to start working with, open Internet Explorer.
    After it has completed loading, you will presented with a pre-login screen.
    1. Select Primus from the list of Service Providers and you will then be taken to the Primus Broadband Wireless Login Screen
    2. Enter your username and password and click on the Login button.
  3. After a few seconds, you will be connected to the Internet and you will be able to browse the Internet, use your email, or launch a Virtual Private Network (VPN)* session to your corporate network.
  4. To Logoff from the Primus Broadband Wireless, close all web browsers, email programs and VPN sessions.
* Customers who would like to use Virtual Private Network (VPN) software should consult their Internal IT Helpdesk for advice on how to correctly do this.

Terms and Conditions

To use the Primus Hotspot Wireless service;

  1. Check your hardware:
    You will require either a wireless enabled Laptop/Notebook or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) or you can purchase a 802.11 compliant wireless card, install it into your Laptop/Notebook or PDA.
  2. Simply upgrade your Primus Internet account to include the Primus Hotspot Wireless service
  3. Check our available Internet Hotspot locations, login and you're on-line.

So whether you're strolling the city streets and need to read or send an important e-mail, or you're sitting with a potential client in a cafe or hotel lobby using your wireless connection to dazzle them with a multimedia on-line presentation, Primus will have the speed, convenience and service you need.

No matter what type of Internet user you are, Primus Hotspot Wireless can connect you to the Internet via a wifi Wireless Hotspot when you need it.
