Overview
Primus is a leading provider of independent ISDN services in the Australian market. Primus has been providing ISDN 10/20/30 services to business customers in the major cities using the Primus carrier grade ATM network for over 8 years. Now Primus is pleased to introduce the first alternative ISDN 2 product to Australian business customers.
Primus ISDN 2 provides ISDN Basic Rate Access (BRA) services to businesses and brings real competition to the small to medium business (SMB) market, who are the prime users of ISDN 2 services.
Primus ISDN 2 is a voice call carriage service delivered via the PrimusNET national broadband network. Primus offers ISDN 2 in combination with optional business grade Internet access, providing an all-in-one telephone and Internet solution to SMB customers.
Primus ISDN 2 provides two (2) B or bearer channels for making and receiving up to two simultaneous calls. Multiple ISDN 2 services can be used in a “hunt group” where more lines are needed. Each ISDN 2 would be connected to a basic rate interface (BRI) port on a compatible phone system (key system, PABX or IP PABX).
Primus ISDN 2 offers attractive tariff packages and, with the availability of optional “high end” features such as Auto Attendant and individual Voicemail, it makes a compelling voice solution for SMB customers.

FAQ’s
What is ISDN?
Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a telecommunication system for digital phone connections, which has been available worldwide for 25 years. Integrated Services refers to ISDN's ability to deliver up to 30 simultaneous connections, in any combination of data, voice, video and fax over a single transmission line. Voice and data is delivered over ISDN via bearer channels (B channels). Each B channel provides a bandwidth of 64kbps. ISDN is delivered to customers via either a Basic Rate Access (BRA) or a Primary Rate Access (PRA). BRA consists of 2 B channels, while PRA consists of 30 B channels. PRA is typically delivered to the customer in lots of 10, 20 or 30 channels, although the 30 channels can be made available once the service is installed.

- ISDN compatible phone system (e.g. PABX) that can plug directly into the Primus NTU (NT1).
- All equipment connected to the ISDN network must be ACA approved. Equipment used with Primus ISDN services must be compatible with the ETSI ISDN or TS014 standards.
Can I use Primus ISDN 2 for data calls or video conferencing?
No, Primus ISDN 2 is designed for voice calls only. As ISDN 2 services only supply 2 B channels at 64kbps each, this is usually too little bandwidth for today’s Internet and data applications. Primus has bundled symmetric broadband Internet access with our ISDN 2 service, which will provide better speed than ISDN 2 data calls.
