Dial-up Access

Primus has POPs (Points of Presence) all around the country providing national dial-up for business users requiring inexpensive, casual Internet access. Various plans are available, including the ability to bill many users to one account with shared usage. Plans are hourly or monthly. All services are provided with a dynamic IP address and email account. Dedicated modem connections are also available with a static IP address.

Domain Names

Domain names are an important business identifier and are critical to operating your business in the online world. Primus can provide you with new domain names, hosting and email services in order to put your business on the online map. Having a domain name is also critical if you wish to host your own email or web server and is a key part of providing a consistent brand across all your communications with customers and suppliers.

A domain name will give your business a unique branded Internet identity. A domain name, such as 'yourdomain.com.au', provides an easy-to-remember Internet URL for your business. A domain name can be used for a business web site (such as www.yourdomain.com.au), business e-mail (such as yourname@yourdomain.com.au) as well as a variety of other Internet services.

• Full Domain Name
  A full domain name gives your business a unique independent Internet name. Full domain names take the form yourdomain.com.au. Domain names commonly end in the following names:
  • .com
  • .net
  • .org
  • .edu
  • .com.au
  • .net.au
  • .org.au
  • .edu.au
  • .co.uk
  • And many others.
• Sub-Domain Name
  Sub-domain names provide your business with additional unique Internet names based on an already-existing domain name. Primus can provide businesses with additional sub-domains, such as customers.yourdomain.com.au, store.yourdomain.com.au and so on.

Primus can provide new domain names as well as delegation and re-delegation of existing domain names to the Primus DNS servers.

IP Addresses

All Primus Internet services are provided with either a dynamic or static IP address. In order to host a number of servers or applications, additional static IP addresses may be required to support your email, web, database or other servers.

Primus can supply additional static IP addresses in subnet blocks of 8, 16, 32 or larger. Note that due to IP addressing limitations, two of these addresses cannot be assigned to your equipment and in some cases one address will be used by the Primus NTU, modem or router.

Additional IP subnets may be used with any Primus service that has at least one (1) static IP address.

Redelegation of larger subnets is also available. Charges apply.

Pricing starts from $10 per month for an 8 IP address subnet. Please consult your Primus representative for assistance with your IP address needs.

E-Mail Services

Primus can supply a range of email value-added services to enhance your connectivity products including:

• POP Email Accounts – basic email accounts with webmail access and email forwarding. Most DSL services include some POP email accounts. Additional accounts are available for a small fee.
• Email Aliases – alias email addresses that look like an ordinary email address but simply forward the email onto another address. There is no account or email storage associated with an alias and email is simply forwarded on. Useful for addresses such as sales@yourdomain.com.au.
• Hosted Exchange Email services

Aggregated Data Plans

In situations where a customer requires several or many Internet access services, it can become both costly and inflexible to have each service with its own included or individual data plan. It is most often the case that a site will download less than their plan and it is possible that you may pay for data you don’t use. On one or two sites this is not a significant issue, however with larger numbers of sites it can become a problem.

Primus provides the facility to share a single download plan across its Internet services, whether they be ADSL, SHDSL or other. This provides a convenient way of billing for data and allows more efficient usage of your plan.

Aggregated data plans are available to most customers and are ideally suited to customers requiring at least five (5) Internet access services.

Note that speed throttling or shaping are not available with aggregated data plans.

Secure DSL

SecureDSL is an add-on feature for business customers using Primus ADSL and SHDSL services.  SecureDSL provides enterprise class firewall and anti-virus/anti-spam services to protect the client's network from intruders and malware.  SecureDSL provides perimeter protection to smaller businesses at an affordable price and requires no upfront investment in hardware.
