STAFF STORY

'Happy Mothers Day' and here's your present, "The Web"!

Mothers Day is the one reminder each year (not that I should need one) to make sure that I let my Mum know she is appreciated. Unfortunately Mothers Day presents a problem for me! You see I've tried every gift I can think of for my Mum but it just doesn't work.

I've tried flowers, but Mum says "Don't waste your money, they just die and I don't have a vase".

So I bought Mum a vase and she said "It's lovely, but I never get flowers and it's just another thing to dust".

Organising a nice lunch at a restaurant doesn't work either as strangely enough Mothers Day seems to be the only day of the year where Mum doesn't like any type of cuisine!

She even gets angry if I've spent money on a card!

In fact Mum will take every permissible measure to ensure that I don't spend a cent on her. She would much prefer to be giving, and says "it makes me happy to see you happy". However I think I may have found a weakness.

Late last year I was at Mums being spoilt with another gourmet feast she had cooked. Amongst her frantically cooking, cleaning and tending our every movement I took her over to the computer and opened the Internet. My cousins had that week posted an old video on Youtube of when Mum and her sisters performed on Bandstand (a 1960's Music show). I showed Mum and tears started streaming down her face. She told me it was the greatest present she's ever received in her life. Who would of thought, the Internet was the source of my Mums greatest ever present!

In February this year my Nanna, Mums Mum, passed away. Mother's day will be difficult for Mum this year. My Cousins and I have put together the most amazing Facebook page including the story of Nanna's life and photos spanning 95 years. On Mothers Day I will show Mum the Facebook page – I don't think she'll be disappointed.

THE IPRIMUS HELP CENTRE iPHONE APPLICATION

Introducing the iPrimus Help centre iPhone app

At iPrimus we're always looking at new ways to provide you with great customer service and a wide range of information. Introducing the iPrimus Help Centre which is a usage meter application for fixed broadband with some really helpful extra features!

The usage meter has…
  • Big, easy to read numbers
  • Peak and Off-Peak status bars
  • A button to top-up your broadband

… and you can get our call centre to call you about anything you like at the press of a button.

Or if you run out of data within the monthly billing period and your speed slows to dial-up, you can get one extra gigabyte, free, but only if you beat our call centre in a duel and only once a month, but it's pretty easy. You'll probably win!

NATIONAL BROADBAND NETWORK - A GUIDE FOR CUSTOMERS

National Broadband Network – A Guide for Customers

The NBN (National Broadband Network) is something that repeatedly comes up in the press, however understanding how you will benefit in the future, and what it's all about can be tricky.

We have attached a guide for Consumers on the NBN prepared by the Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) and the Australian Communication Consumer Action Network (ACCAN). This is a very useful guide and provides answers to common questions about the Internet, Fibre Broadband connections and the NBN.

As part of the National Broadband Network rollout, iPrimus has partnered with NBNCo in both the mainland first release sites and Tasmania, as well as other providers delivering high-speed Fibre to the Home connections to our customers.
